Interdisciplinay Centre of
Exercise and Sports Medicine
Wuppertal e.V.
Following the comprehensive and same-titled project Haemophilia in Motion (HIM), sports camps especially for patients with haemophilia are conducted in Germany two times a year (April/May & October). In these camps, programmed sports therapy is put into practice. The sports therapy camps take place in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia). They are 3.5-day long and addressed to every person affected who wants to give himself a treat. We welcome everybody aiming at being physically active under professional guidance and at overcoming his weaker-self. We would like to train the participants’ competence in the field of physical exercise in connection with the disease as well as to give advice concerning individual training. Therefore, the sports and exercise program is individually adapted to the participants’ needs and conditions. Besides physical activity, theoretical seminars, lectures, open discussions as well as personal and group treatments offer the possibility to talk about personal matters and to exchange experiences. Additionally, medical examinations in order to measure therapeutic success as well as to raise training effects take place once a year. Part of it is, amongst others, the investigation of joint status or the use of questionnaires in order supervise the subjective condition. Throughout the whole course of the sports camp, a team composed of sports physicians and physio- and sports therapists is in attendance, acting in advisory capacity.
