Haemophilia in Motion (HIM) – Continuation
(January 2009 till December 2011, in Bad Blankenburg) The HIM project is the consequent continuation of the successful “Haemophilia & Exercise Project”, in short, HEP. The personnel of this project have gathered ten years of experience in the field of haemophilia and sports therapy. The aims of our therapy remain:
Instruction and advanced education concerning physical training will be incorporated into the semi-annual collective sports camps (in June/July, and in October). Each camp will be 3.5 days long, from Thursday noon to Sunday noon, at the Landessportschule Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia). Independent home-training will be performed in the periods between the sports camps. The participants will be guided by a team composed of doctors, sports scholars and sports therapists.
The primary focal points of the therapy lie in the improvement of the awareness of one’s body, muscle and joint apparatus. In the future, improvement of awareness of the cardiovascular system will also be fortified. Regular scientific examinations will monitor the effects of training. The project targets haemophilic patients aged 18-65, with moderate to severe haemophilia A and B. Age-related exceptions will be made on a case-to-case basis. The participation in the project should be in concurrence with the participant’s physician. The participant assumes all travel and lodging costs, at special rates, arising from the sports camps. Escorts are also welcome. The next training camp in which Professor Hilberg and his team warmly welcome your participation will take place from June 17–20 2010 in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia). Interested parties are invited to contact Ms. Dörte Czepa via phone 0212/439-5914 or e-mail at mail@haemophilia-exercise.de As of October 1st 2008, Professor Hilberg is the Chair of Sports Medicine at the University of Wuppertal. The HEP office has also moved with its Project Director from Jena to Wuppertal. More information can be found at www.sportwissenschaft.uni- |
